From July 7 to July 16, the Trade Promotion centre for Agriculture - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the People's Committees, Farmer’s Unions of An Giang, Ben Tre, Long An and accompanied by Ca Mau Fertilizer brand operated under PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (PVCFC) successfully organized a series of 5 Farmer’s Bridge Programs in Cho Moi District, Long Xuyen City (An Giang Province); Mo Cay Bac District and Chau Thanh District (Ben Tre Province) and Can Duoc District (Long An Province).

The program concluded successfully with the participation of 1,700 farmers, ranchers, and cooperatives from three provinces in an exciting and open atmosphere, with nearly 600 questions asked and answered by the Scientific Advisory Board of leading scientists in cultivation, animal husbandry, plant protection, veterinary medicine, fisheries, and soil.
The "Farmer's Bridge" program aims to advise, answer, and provide farmers with scientific and technical knowledge, particularly on the examination, prevention, and effective treatment of plant diseases. Guiding farmers to learn more on agrochemical soil, plant varieties, the growth cycle and characteristics of each species, fertilizers and plant protection drugs, and scientific farming methods appropriate to crops and arable land in each region.

The Scientific advisory board of leading consultants and scientists: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phung - Former Head of the Southern Standing Department, National Agriculture Extension Center; Vietnam Farms and Agricultural Enterprises Association (VFAEA); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Hai - Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Agriculture, Can Tho University; Dr. Nguyen Van Bac – Deputy Head of the Southern Standing Department, National Agriculture Extension Center; Dr. Phan Phuong Loan - Vice Dean of Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, An Giang University; MSc. Nguyen Cong Thanh - Director of the Center for Training and Transfer of Agricultural Technology in the Mekong Delta; Engineer Nguyen Thanh Tung - Former Director of Long An Agricultural Extension Center. In addition, there was the participation of the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in each province who directly answered questions about agricultural development encouragement policies in each locality.

In each province, the program received the participation of municipal leaders, People's Councils, People's Committees, Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Farmer’s Unions, Agricultural Extension Centers, heads of Sub-Departments, heads of departments and agencies directly under the municipal authority, especially the presence of nearly 1,700 delegates of agricultural officers, farm owners, cooperative officials and farmers from each locality.
During the program, many delegates who are also farmers asked scientists and speakers questions about climate change, salinity intrusion, care techniques, and pest control for key plants in each province. As a result, the program assists farmers in better understanding the effects of climate change and developing solutions to effectively protect crops and gardens. The "Farmer's Bridge" program fosters opportunities for farmers to share, learn, and exchange information with scientists, allowing them to accumulate more experience and apply new science and technology in cultivation, assisting plants in adapting to climate change, and gradually improving product quality to meet the needs of domestic and export markets.

Most of the questions posed by agricultural officials, extension workers, and farmers at the "Farmer's Bridge" program in the lively discussion atmosphere focused on the following areas: cultivation, plant protection, mechanisms and policies, and so on. Scientists, consultants, and management agencies from the province responded with reasonable and highly applicable answers. Farmers' concerns regarding fertilizing timing, dose, and notes for each crop were addressed by a representative from PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Joint Stock Company throughout each session.
Hundreds of questions were consulted and directly answered on each program, and hundreds more were sent to the Advisory Board for answers by scientists via indirect channels in an atmosphere of vibrant discussion. Farmers in the Mekong Delta's three provinces have gained important knowledge to adopt Good Agricultural Practices and respond quickly and proactively to climate change, drought, and saline intrusion in the near future thanks to a series of five Farmer's Bridge Programs.
