Formation and development

In early 2008, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) held a wide international bidding and extended the copyright for the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant Project.

In early 2008, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) held a wide international bidding and extended the copyright for the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant Project. Overcoming many difficulties, on October 26, 2012, Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant - the most modern granular urea fertilizer plant in Vietnam today and the Group’s third project in the Gas-Power-Fertilizer value chain in Ca Mau was officially inaugurated. In addition to meeting the schedule and quality requirements, the project has saved over $150 million compared to the total approved investments. The construction of Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant not only meets most of the nitrogen fertilizer needs of farmers in the Mekong Delta and the whole country, contributes to stabilizing fertilizer supplies across the country, but also implements the Government's direction on developing a closed plant towards the green industry of Vietnam. 
From the first development steps to today's solid position, the collective of Petrovietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Joint Stock Company always keep in mind the contributions and outstanding achievements of the leadership generations over the periods, those who have devoted youthful enthusiasm, passed on to the next generations the pioneering spirit of innovation, made creative efforts and coped with challenges to lead the company to overcome difficulties for sustainable development. On the journey of further development, the resilient will and stuff from the leadership generations will continue to be the inspiration to guide Ca Mau Fertilizer to conquer big goals and firmly fulfill the mission of serving Vietnamese agriculture.

  • Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant was officially gone construction.

  • On March 9, 2011, Ca Mau Gas and Fertilizer Limited Company was founded (part of PVN).

  • Trademark products of Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant were launched. The General Contractor entrusted the right to coordinate the commissioning and capacity testing to the Investor and completed the performance test for the entire Plant on April 14, 2012.
  • The State Acceptance Council approved to put the plant into commercial operation on April 23, 2012 after obtaining sufficient approval documents on fire prevention and fighting, environment, license to exploit surface water and discharge waste. On April 24, 2012, the plant was completed and handed over to the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group/Ca Mau Gas and Fertilizer Limited Company (PVCFC) for commercial operation.
  • Trademark products “Dam Ca Mau - Hat ngoc mua vang” were launched.
  • 500,000 tons were yielded after 10 months.

  • Awarded with the titles of Vietnam’s Golden Star and Outstanding Agricultural Products

  • On November 12, 2014, IPO held by PVCFC was a hit with 128,951,200 shares sold out, making it the biggest IPO transaction in 2014.
  • PVCFC was officially recognized as the Nation’s Brand.

  • 3 million tons were yielded after 4 years.
  • PVCFC became a stock company with its name DCM first appearing on Ho Chi Minh City stock market.
  • High quality products, N.HUMATE + TE, were launched.

  • Over 4 million tons were yielded after 5 years.
  • PVCFC received the Second-Class Labor Medal.
  • 2 more qualitative products debuted on the market, consecutively N46 PLUS and NANO C+.

  • A collection of 7 products offering optimal growing environment for plants were officially distributed.
  • Became one in the 500 soaring businesses of Vietnam (VNR500).

  • Reached 5 million tons.
  • For the first time ever, cooperatives and growers had been introduced with the program, “Experiencing high-tech collection of products”.
  • During the very first year, the consumption rate was spiraling, surpassing the initial plan by 10%.

  • A record-breaking production rate was noted, reaching the finishing line 36 days earlier than the expected date: 870 thousand tons.
  • Reached 6 million tons of Urea.
  • DMS helped computerize all transactions.
  • Became one of the "Prestigious Exporting Enterprises".
  • Became one of the 100 most stable businesses in Vietnam.

  • Reached a record revenue of VND 7,700 billion. 
  • Reached a record export output of over 300 thousand tons.
  • Reached 7 million tons of Urea.
  • Expanded the brand from “Dam Ca Mau” to “Ca Mau Fertilizer”.

  • On 25 April, Ca Mau fertilizer product set received the National Gold Quality awarded by the Prime Minister.
  • On April 16, the first batch of 20,000-ton NPK Ca Mau was officially launched: give the farmers more options, increase their benefits;
  • Thanks to the outstanding brand position as well as capacity, Ca Mau fertilizer had been announced by Forbes Vietnam in the list of “50 best listed companies”.
  • On 27 August, Petrovietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer officially entered into MOU with Plant Protection Department (PPD) paving a strategic goal in the development, balanced - effective use of organic fertilizer for a sustainable green agriculture.
  • On 06 October, Ca Mau Fertilizer officially reached 8 million tons of urea, marking a milestone on the journey of sustainable agricultural development after 10 years of establishment and development

  • August 5th: Ranked in the Top 50 Best Listed Companies for the second time, recognized for outstanding business results in the first two quarters.
  • November 2nd: Honored as a National Brand for the fifth consecutive year.
  • November 22nd: Achieved a production milestone of 9 million tons of Urea.
  •  December 3rd: Certified as meeting Vietnamese business culture standards.

  • October 31st: Received the certificate of achievement for stable and continuous operation for more than 350 days for the second time.
  • Finalized a capital transfer agreement with Korea-Vietnam Fertilizer Co., Ltd. (KVF).
  • Launched “Anh Hai Ca Mau,” the first digital human project in Vietnam’s agricultural sector.
  • Successfully expanded into the NPK market, with consumption reaching 138.61 thousand tons, a 122% increase compared to 2022.
  • December 7th: Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant achieved a production milestone of 10 million tons of Urea.
  • Board of Directors of PVCFC was honored with the title of “Board of Directors committed to good corporate governance practices”.
  •  Received the accolade of “Best workplaces for employees in 2023"

PVCFC currently has 3 plants: the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant, the Ca Mau NPK Plant, and the Korea – Vietnam NPK Plant, with a total production capacity of nearly 1.5 million tons of fertilizer each year. The Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant consistently ensures safe and stable operations, substantial capacity, and significant contribution to both product quality and company revenue. On December 07th, 2023, the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant achieved the production output of 10 millionth ton of Urea. Operating at an optimal capacity of 110 - 115% relative to its designed capacity, this milestone marks yet another leap in PVCFC’s enduring commitment to scaling new heights in sustainable agriculture.

Building on the success of the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant, the establishment of the Ca Mau NPK Plant and M&A of the Korea – Vietnam NPK Plant represent significant strides in PVCFC’s strategy to complete plant nutrition solutions. This expansion is part of an ongoing effort to diversify the supply of high-quality fertilizers, support farmers in sustainable agriculture practices, and elevate the “green values” of Vietnam’s agriculture. The Ca Mau NPK Plant, with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, utilizes liquefied Urea technology and production lines featuring the latest technologies from the Spanish contractor ESPINDESA, along with main equipment sourced from EU/G7 countries. The Korea – Vietnam NPK plant boasts an annual capacity of 360,000 tons.
