Taking the responsibility to manage the PM3 Ca Mau gas pipeline system, PV Gas Ca Mau attaches great importance to turn-around maintenance as it helps maintain smooth and safe operation of the system.

The PM3 Ca Mau gas pipeline system consists of nearly 298km of offshore pipelines, 27km of onshore pipelines and three gas stations (a land fall station, a line block valve, and a gas distribution center) with total design capacity of more than two billion cu.m of gas per year. It brings to shore gas from the PM3-CAA field that belongs to the Malay-Tho Chu basin. PV Gas has been assigned by the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group to invest in and manage the operation of the PM3 Ca Mau gas pipeline system so that it can supply gas for the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant to produce 40 percent of Vietnam’s total nitrogenous fertilizer output, and the two Ca Mau Power Plants to generate eight percent of the country’s total electricity output. PV Gas Ca Mau therefore is deeply aware of its important role in ensuring safety and integrity of the entire pipeline system.

The PM3 Ca Mau gas pipeline system has been in operation for 11 years. The first turn-around maintenance of the system was successfully carried out in 2012, and the second from August 17-30, 2017. More than 150 engineers and workers of PV Gas and contractors participated in the second turn-around maintenance of the system. They worked uninterruptedly at the three gas stations, dealing with nearly 130 work items. Major activities included maintaining five water bath heaters, overhauling pressure control valves, maintaining and repairing flares, the TK-6007 water tank for fire fighting, and pig launchers/receivers. The maintenance and repair work was also carried out at upstream gas fields managed by Repsol, the two Ca Mau Power Plants, and the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant.

All staff members of PV Gas Ca Mau, PV Gas Services and contractors have actively participated in the second turn-around maintenance of the PM3 Ca Mau gas pipeline system and made it a success.
