4.SYNERGIZING COMMUNITY VALUES

Building a sustainable supply chain

GRI 308-1, 2 / GRI 414-1, 2

The impacts of PVCFC’s business operations on environmental and social issues extend beyond activities within the factory premises. We are aware of the environmental and social impacts resulting from the production and supply of raw materials, chemicals, and services essential to our business operations. Therefore, in our supplier selection process, we require and only choose entities that comply with legal requirements concerning environmental and social standards.

With that spirit, PVCFC continues to make efforts to enhance sustainability in the supply chain by implementing supplier partners evaluation and control criteria, specifically:

Integrating Environmental and Social Commitments criteria into Supplier Evaluation

In the supplier capability assessment process, we apply the following criteria:

  • Commitment to comply with safety and environmental protection regulations
  • Number of violations of government regulations related to child labor
  • Number of violations of government regulations on the environment

To ensure that partners not only meet product quality requirements but also demonstrate responsibility toward the environment and society.

Applying historical data for supplier classification

Based on historical data from order execution, on-site surveys, and evaluation results, we build a list of “quality” suppliers to prioritize cooperation for subsequent orders. This method helps optimize business efficiency while encouraging suppliers to improve sustainability performance.

Developing a vendor management system

PVCFC is in the process of building a Vendor Management System (VMS). This system not only helps businesses better control activities related to suppliers but also facilitates the promotion of transparency, sustainability and strengthens competitiveness in the market.

With these initiatives, we are committed to gradually building a more sustainable supply chain, contributing to creating long-term value for customers, partners and the community.

The sustainable supply chain at PVCFC not only optimizes resource efficiency and minimizes negative environmental and social impacts, but also serves as a strategic pillar that strengthens competitive advantage and sustainable development, delivering long-term value to all stakeholders.

The sustainable supply chain at PVCFC not only optimizes resource efficiency and minimizes negative environmental and social impacts, but also serves as a strategic pillar that strengthens competitive advantage and sustainable development, delivering long-term value to all stakeholders. We believe that building a sustainable supply chain is not only a compulsory requirement but also a key strategic factor for maintaining competitiveness and achieving sustainable development. Ensuring that our suppliers comply with sustainability standards helps us mitigate risks, enhance operational efficiency, and contribute positively to the community and the environment. Currently, 100% of our technology licensors (Topsoe, Toyo, Saipem, Espindesa) meet environmental and social criteria, such as waste management, energy saving, pollution reduction, occupational safety, and ethical commitments. These evaluations are conducted by reputable independent assessors.

A sustainable supply chain not only plays a vital role in optimizing operational performance but also has a profound impact on the environment and society. Activities within the supply chain, from production and transportation to distribution, can positively or negatively affect natural resources, working conditions, and surrounding communities. A sustainable supply chain helps minimize carbon emissions, utilizes resources more efficiently, and ensures fair working conditions.

We believe that building a sustainable supply chain is not only a mandatory requirement but also an important strategic factor to maintain competitiveness and sustainable development. Ensuring that our suppliers comply with sustainable standards helps us minimize risks, improve operational efficiency, and make a positive contribution to the community and the environment.

100% of our technology licensors (Topsoe, Toyo, Saipem, Espindesa) meet environmental and social criteria

In the supplier selection process, alongside traditional criteria such as financial capability, production capacity, and after-sales service, PVCFC also commits to evaluating and selecting suppliers based on environmental and social factors. In 2024, this was reflected in the company’s implementation of procurement policy that ensured transparency, fairness, and equity among suppliers, meeting production and business needs over the past time.

In 2024, the Company has implemented

In the past year, PVCFC has not yet established specific environmental and social evaluation criteria for suppliers within the supply chain. However, we have ensured that there were no environmental or social violations by any suppliers in the supply chain during 2024.

In the coming time, we plan to release a model to evaluate key equipment suppliers in our supply chain. We also consider applying these evaluation criteria to future investment decisions to ensure that all activities and investments are aligned with the company's sustainability goals. In the fourth quarter of 2024, PVCFC developed the Supplier Management module, which has been operational since March 2025.

Safe Products

Currently, inorganic fertilizers still represent a significant portion of PVCFC’s product structure. Recognizing the importance of environmental safety and aiming for sustainable development, PVCFC has initiated extensive research to find alternative raw materials to progressively improve and produce “greener” products. This includes collaborating with various organizations on projects such as green hydrogen production (with hydrogen as a key ingredient in Urea production) and researching and producing fertilizers from recycled materials and waste. These efforts aim to gradually increase the proportion of environmentally and human-friendly products, such as organic fertilizers, microbial fertilizers, and NPK fertilizers derived from organic sources.

Product Quality Management

PVCFC primarily supplies fertilizers that support plant development before harvesting. Plants absorb nutrients from fertilizers through their roots, stems, and leaves. As a result, residues in harvested products are generally negligible.

However, excessive or improper application, whether in dosage or timing, can impact soil quality, leading to loss, waste, or reduced crop yield. PVCFC has conducted research to provide comprehensive guidelines on dosage, ratios, and timing for each type of crop and soil to optimize costs and maximize benefits for customers and farmers.

Currently, PVCFC has not recorded any incidents involving customers affected by fertilizer residues after using its products and services. The company will continue striving to enhance the quality and safety of its products for customers and consumers.

Marketing and Product Labeling

PVCFC maximizes communication with customers regarding its policies, quality control measures, and services. The company widely promotes responsible fertilizer use among farmers through various methods, such as organizing regular farmer workshops, technical seminars, field days, factory tours, customer care activities, and providing information on product labels, usage guidelines, and safety data sheets,…

All PVCFC product packaging clearly displays comprehensive information about the composition, instructions, and recommended usage for each type of crop, along with other safety guidelines.

Customer Management

Customer information is considered a valuable asset by PVCFC, closely tied to the company’s existence and development. Therefore, ensuring the confidentiality of customer information is a top priority and is strictly adhered to in accordance with company policies and legal regulations.

As of now, PVCFC has not recorded any incidents of violations regarding customer information confidentiality. The company will continue to maintain compliance to prevent any future breaches.

Nurturing and Developing a Sustainable Vietnamese Agriculture

Nurturing and Developing a Sustainable Vietnamese Agriculture

PVCFC is building a business model that is not only economically successful but also a pioneer in enhancing the quality of life in communities through faster and more effective initiatives and actions. This mission is not only a responsibility but also a source of pride for a Vietnamese brand.

Currently, PVCFC's product portfolio is diverse, ranging from single fertilizers and compound fertilizers to inorganic, organic, and microbial fertilizers... By applying the most advanced technologies, PVCFC’s products offer superior quality, environmental friendliness, and suitability for a wide range of crops in both agricultural and urban settings.

Furthermore, PVCFC stays ahead of technological trends by developing an AI-powered farming and crop care assistant on the 2Nông application, which currently has 150,000 users and an average of 1,500 visits per day. This helps farmers save time and costs while improving crop productivity and quality. The application can quickly detect plant diseases and nutrient deficiencies with a simple scan or photo.

PVCFC’s efforts not only help farmers achieve "Golden harvest” but also create a greener, more nature-friendly living environment for urban residents, thereby contributing to sustainable value for the agricultural sector and Vietnam as a whole.

Enhancing Community Well-being

Enhancing Community
Well-being

PVCFC upholds its commitment to the community through comprehensive social welfare programs, with a budget of nearly VND 80 billion allocated for 2024.

Annual social welfare programs continue to expand in scale compared to previous years, including infrastructure development, rural bridges, solidarity houses, hospitals, school projects, and scholarship programs for children in disadvantaged areas, providing support to farmers in regions affected by natural disasters. The "For a Green Vietnam" initiative aims to plant 300,000 trees from 2023 to 2025, contributing to air quality improvement and environmental protection,...

In 2024, PVCFC has intensified its focus on key markets, accelerating its initiatives and executing programs faster and more effectively, aiming to deliver sustainable and long-term value.

For instance, the initiative to donate 1,400 freshwater storage tanks, each with a capacity of 1,000 liters, in the Mekong Delta region has helped local farmers cope with drought and saltwater intrusion during peak periods. Each tank has a lifespan of up to 10 years.

Another example is the resettlement project for Kho Vang village, which meets the daily living needs of approximately 40 households, implemented by PVCFC in collaboration with Petrovietnam, and the "Technical Support - Overcoming Difficulties" program was launched across 13 provinces and cities in Northern Vietnam immediately after Typhoon Yagi struck, this initiative not only provided immediate relief but also served as a long-term investment, laying the foundation for a stable and sustainable future for affected residents.

For PVCFC, business is not merely a commercial activity but is closely tied to social responsibility. The more the enterprise develops, the more meaningful contributions it makes to the community, from supporting agricultural production and improving livelihoods to protecting the environment. This commitment serves as a driving force for PVCFC to continuously innovate and grow, accompanying Vietnam’s agriculture sector and contributing to the development of a sustainable Vietnam in all aspects.

On our journey to serve agriculture, Ca Mau Fertilizer has always shown enthusiastic dedication to corporate social responsibility for the community and the country. Facing the challenges in Truong Sa, PVCFC, with a high sense of responsibility, swiftly and promptly provided support to the armed forces and civilians on the island district.

In 2022, Ca Mau Fertilizer sponsored 200 tons of fertilizer worth over VND 1.8 billion to help strengthen the greenery on the island, fostering growth and harvests, and contributing to a green – clean – beautiful environment in Truong Sa Island district. Since 2022, Ca Mau Fertilizer has continuously partnered with the Naval Region 4 Command to support the “Greening Truong Sa” program with deeper and broader cooperation. At the nurseries on the islands, Ca Mau Fertilizer provides technical support and infrastructure to promote better plant growth.

“Golden Harvest” - a superior nutritional solution for a wide range of crops and soil conditions – has gone beyond rice fields and vegetable gardens, reaching distant, sun-drenched islands.

“PVCFC’s donation represents the heartfelt support of nearly 1,500 employees to the Naval Region 4 soldiers and the military and civilian forces of Truong Sa. All are united in the desire to restore and preserve the island’s greenery, enriching the beautiful landscape and revitalizing life here.
